Eye Health Technology
At Baymeadows Vision Center, we’re proud to offer some of the most advanced eye technology available today to provide the best eye care for our patients.
Digital retinal imaging
Digital retinal imaging is a revolutionary tool our eye doctors use to get a closer look at the health of your retina. This non-invasive procedure takes detailed images of your retina, allowing us to detect early signs of diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina. With OCT, we can view the different layers of your retina, helping us map and measure their thickness. These measurements help our eye doctors diagnose and treat glaucoma and retinal diseases.
Visual field testing
Visual field testing is a critical part of our eye care services. This test measures the full extent of your visual field, including your peripheral (side) vision. It can help diagnose conditions like glaucoma, stroke, optic nerve damage, or other neurological disorders.
Digital phoropter/digital refraction system
A digital phoropter is an automated device we use to measure your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses. Instead of flipping through a series of lenses, we can control the phoropter from a computer system. This machine helps us determine your prescription faster and more accurately than ever before.
Corneal mapping
Our sMap3D™️ corneo-scleral topographer offers the most advanced solution for corneal mapping. This technology collects a million measurement points to create a detailed three-dimensional model of your cornea and sclera. This data is then used to design highly customizable scleral contact lenses. These lenses effectively treat a range of eye conditions like keratoconus, corneal irregularities, and dry eye syndrome.
Autorefractor
An autorefractor is a computer-controlled instrument that measures how light changes as it enters your eye. It provides an objective measurement of your vision, which is helpful for patients who struggle with answering questions about their vision. This technology helps us quickly and accurately determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses.
